BWA Wrocław is a cultural institution financed by the city of Wrocław. Its main activity focuses on organising and presenting contemporary art exhibitions. It also shows interest in interaction between art and other areas of life as well as in search for the meaning of art in the social context. It achieves its goals by arranging art shows, concerts, meetings and publishing projects. Due to its close geographical distance from Prague, Berlin and Leipzig BWA Wrocław is interested in creating local structures of art circulation within the area marked by these centres. Since 2009 it has issued BIURO (OFFICE), a propaganda organ of the BWA Galleries, artists from Wrocław and much more. The periodical is going to maintain its utopian character, to reveal ‘seams’ of the Gallery’s projects, to make comments and to present new phenomena by avoiding the violence of ‘discourses’.
