Council

Founded by Grégory Castéra and Sandra Terdjman in 2013, Council is a curatorial organization that researches, produces and supports artists and projects that endeavour to renew the representation of social issues. Since its creation, Council has developed a method for curatorial research, working on issues including transformations of hearing by deaf knowledge (Sharjah Biennial; MoMA PS1, New York; Bergen Assembly), interpretation of nature in the legal regulation of sexuality (Ashkal Alwan, Beirut) and measuring climate change (Musée de l’homme, Paris). Through these research projects Council has produced and distributed exhibitions, publications, events, and artworks. Council’s inquiries and productions are regularly presented during talks and workshops. Each projects is an occasion to engage in discussions with artists, scientists, activists and institutions on the social role of art, the nature of humankind and the composition of alterity. Officially based in Paris, Council changes its space, team and location depending on the necessity of each project.
