Lecture by Andreas Schmid
Location: Auditorium, Witte de With
English spoken
Artist and curator Andreas Schmid will talk about the making of the seminal exhibition China Avant-Garde, which he curated together with Hans van Dijk and Jochen Noth in 1993, and which travelled from Berlin’s Haus der Kulturen der Welt to the Rotterdam Kunsthal and other venues in Europe. Schmid will also discuss the development of Chinese society and experimental art in the 1980’s and early 1990’s to illustrate the importance of those years for today’s arts scene in China.
This lecture is presented as part of Studium Witte de With, a collaborative education platform for art and theory which is intended to serve as a catalyst bridging various fields of knowledge across higher education. The lecture is open to students enrolled in courses of our Studium Partner institutes but is also open to the general audience.
