On a yearly basis, C.o.C.A. appoints a curator who is a key figure in the Dutch contemporary art scene to recommend a shortlist of artists based on the foundation’s profile. Departing from the submitted proposals, the board of C.o.C.A then selects one artist who receives a grant to realize the project proposed. The resulting work (or an edition of it) becomes part of the foundation’s collection.
For its fourth edition, artist Rory Pilgrim (b. 1988, U.K.), recommended by curatorial duo Laurie Cluitmans and Arnisa Zeqo, has been selected as the winner of the 2013 C.o.C.A. commission. On Saturday February 8, 2014, during the Art Rotterdam, Witte de With hosts the prize with a special event. From February 1 until March 2 Pilgrim’s work will be on view in Rongwrong, Amsterdam.
