(m)other voices: the maternal as an attitude, maternal thinking and the production of time and knowledge concludes the year’s workshops and reading groups on June 21st with the (m)other voices Midsummer Eve’s Potlatch. During the evening, the m/other voices foundation, an internationally orientated network and research hub, whose work will take place under the three headings of ‘Art, Research and Theory’ ‘Dialogue’ and ‘Community Involvement’, will be launched. Information on the foundation, its activities, organizational structure and goals, will be presented on the evening by Deirdre M. Donoghue.
The Midsummer Eve’s Potlatch will be based on the communal act of potluck and the economic system of gifting. During the evening we will enjoy a collective potluck dinner, Paula Mc Closkey (researcher, writer, UK) will give a talk on her research on maternal encounters and Bracha L. Ettinger’s (artist, philosopher, psychoanalyst, ISR) theory of the ‘matrixial borderspace’. After dinner, Witta Tjan (performance artist, NL) will present her work in progress entitled ‘What Passes When Watching.’
The (m)other voices reader is available upon request (by sending an e-mail to [email protected]), but will also be available on site Saturday 21 June to browse.
