Agung Hujatnika aka Agung Hujatnikajennong, was born in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia, on January 9, 1976. He obtained a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB, 2012) in Bandung, Indonesia; carried out curatorial residency programs in Australia (Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, and Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra, 2002; Canberra Contemporary Art Space, 2010) and Japan (Nanjo and Associates, Tokyo, 2004; Arts Initiative Tokyo, 2011). Since 1999, he has been contributing as writer, and curating many exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad. Hujatnika was one of the networking curators for the Singapore Biennale (2006, 2008, 2010). He has also worked closely with ruangrupa, an artist initiative in Jakarta, especially for the OK Video Festival (2003, 2005, 2011). In 2009, Hujatnika curated the 13th Jakarta Biennale, Fluid Zones, at the Indonesian National Gallery and several public spaces in Jakarta. In 2012, along with Charles Esche and ArtHub Asia he co-curated the Bandung Pavilion at the Shanghai Biennale. Apart from teaching at his alma mater, he is currently working along with Cairo-based curator Sarah Rifky on the preparation of the Jogja Biennale XII to be opened in November 2013 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Hujatnika was the curator of Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung (2001 – 2012).
