Angela McRobbie is Professor of Communications at Goldsmiths University of London. She began her academic career in the mid 1970s at the Birmingham University Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies where she wrote her thesis on girls' magazines. Since then she has written numerous academic books and articles on gender and popular culture, feminist theory, the British fashion industry, the new creative economy. Her most recent books are The Aftermath of Feminism (2008) and Be Creative: Making a Living in the New Culture Industries (2015).
