Ann Demeester was born in 1975 in Brugge (Belgium).
Demeester was assistant curator at S.M.A.K., Ghent (Belgium); and adjoint director at Museum MARTa Herford, (Germany) and director of art space W139 in Amsterdam (the Netherlands). She co-curated the 10th Baltic Triennial (2009), and is the host of the programme ‘4Art’ on Dutch National Television. She has published essays on artists such as Michael Borremans, Bjarne Melgaard, Jennifer Tee, Luc Tuymans, Salla Tykka etc. She was the director of de Appel arts centre and head of de Appel Curatorial Programme from 2006-2014. In 2012 she initiated – with the Fair Gallery – the first curatorial programme for aspiring gallerist, the Gallerist Programme.
Since 2014 Demeester is director of Frans Hals Museum | De Hallen Haarlem in Haarlem.
