Ivan Argote (b. 1983, Bogotá) lives and works in Paris. His artistic practice often focuses on interventions and performances in the public space, creating video pieces that explore the city as a space of political and relational conflict, while in his work he creates scenarios that blend rebellion and absurdity. Argote has an MFA in Graphic Design from the National University of Colombia and an MFA from the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. Since 2007 his work has been presented, among others, in solo exhibitions including Sin Heroismos, por favor, Tripple solo by Sara Ramo, CA2M, Madrid (2012); Girarse (duo with Dee Harding), Joán Miró Foundation, Barcelona (2012), and the group exhibitions La Estrategia, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013); Tectonic, The Moving Museum, Dubai (2013); Salons, Domaine de Chamarande, France (2012); The Dialectic City, Laboratorio de Artes Binarios, Puerto Rico (2011). He has been awarded with the Prix SAM, 2011 and recently the Audi Talents Award, 2013. Argote was included in the 30th Sao Paulo Biennale, Brazil.
