Dr. Robert Born, is one of the curators of the exhibition The Sultan’ World. The Ottoman Orient in Renaissance Art, at BOZAR, Brussels, and also works as a researcher at the GWZO (Research Centre for the History and Culture of East Central Europe) in Leipzig.
Between 2006 and 2013 he worked as coordinator of the project Ottoman Orient and East Central Europe: Comparative Studies in Perceptions and Interactions in the Border Zones and of the field Art History and Early Modern Cultural History (2006‑2010). 2010‑2011 he was visiting Professor of Art and Architectural History at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He has published mainly on the cultural contacts between the Ottoman Empire and East Central Europe and art and architecture in the Habsburg Empire from the 18th–20th centuries.
